What does it mean to have oil in your lamp but not in your vessel? Why do some believers remain strong in faith despite persecution, while others fall away?
In Acts 5, we see the early apostles beaten and commanded to stop preaching in the name of Jesus. Instead of retreating in fear, they rejoiced, knowing they were counted worthy to suffer for Christ. This level of endurance and spiritual fortitude reveals a critical difference between believers who have oil only in their lamps and those who carry oil in their vessels.
A believer with oil in their lamp but none in their vessel may shine for a moment, but when trials come, their fire dims. However, those who carry oil in their vessel—who are deeply rooted in God’s presence—burn with a light that cannot be extinguished. They find joy in persecution, strength in suffering, and the courage to obey God no matter the cost.
