WCC shares insights on Nicaea and the quest for Christian unity

In his presentation, he revisited the significance of the first Ecumenical Council at Nicaea 1700 years ago. 

His lecture discussed the theological, structural, and spiritual dimensions of Nicaea, then traced the history of the Nicene Creed up through the present day. 

He also posed the question of how we can still draw inspiration from Nicaea today, noting that, even if we acknowledge that the Ecumenical Council was convened under the patronage of the Roman Emperor Constantine, the proceedings were by no means under some kind of imperial rule.

Indeed, the councils decisions provoked rather than secured imperial consensus,” said Jeftić.
