University of Melbourne Law School Visiting Fellowship 2026 (Australia)

The University of Melbourne Law School Visiting Fellowship 2026 invites international scholars working on statelessness to join the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness. This prestigious fellowship promotes academic collaboration, research development, and policy impact in an inclusive, research-intensive environment.

About the Visiting Fellowship

The Visiting Fellowship Scheme supports scholars conducting research that aligns with the Centre’s mission. The program offers:

  • A dedicated on-campus workspace

  • Access to university library and computing resources

  • Opportunities to present research in seminars and workshops

  • Engagement in academic collaborations and Centre-hosted events

Fellowship Duration

Fellowships are offered for visits between July and November 2026.

Available Field of Study

This opportunity is exclusively available to scholars in the field of:

Fellowship Benefits

One funded fellowship is available, which includes:

  • Up to AUD $6,000 to support international travel and accommodation

  • Workspace and institutional access

  • Participation in Centre events and research activities

  • Requirement to:

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be engaged in research or advocacy related to statelessness

  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with Centre staff

  • Participate actively in the Centre’s academic community

  • Submit a complete application by November 30, 2025

  • Handle their own visa and insurance arrangements (for international applicants)

Eligible Applicant Profiles

The Fellowship is open to:

  • Postdoctoral and tenured academics

  • Early-career researchers

  • Non-academic professionals with relevant applied research experience

  • Individuals with lived experience of statelessness are strongly encouraged to apply

Application Process

Required Documents (Submit as ONE PDF):

  • Curriculum Vitae with a list of publications

  • Research Plan (max 1,000 words): covering research topic, objectives, and proposed activities

  • Proposed dates of visit

  • Funding request (up to AUD $6,000) with itemized budget (travel, accommodation, etc.)

  • One reference letter or employer support letter (for professionals)

Application Submission:

Deadline: November 30, 2025

Self-Funded Fellowship Option

The Centre also welcomes self-funded applicants year-round, subject to workspace availability.
