In line with its mission to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy, Synafare has announced the launch of its Innovation Hackathon 2025, a virtual event designed to revolutionise the solar energy ecosystem.

The hackathon registration is scheduled from March 10th to March 31st, 2025, bringing together innovators, developers and tech enthusiasts from across Nigeria and beyond. The hack will be held from April 2nd to 4th 2025.

The Synafare Innovation Hackathon 2025 challenges participants to create cutting-edge digital solutions that address critical inefficiencies in the solar energy value chain.

With nearly 40 per cent of Nigerians lacking reliable electricity and businesses relying on diesel generators for over 60 per cent of their energy needs, the hackathon aimed to bridge the energy gap by fostering innovative, scalable and affordable solar energy solutions.

The three-day virtual hackathon will feature intense coding sessions, mentorship from industry leaders, and product demos, culminating in the announcement of winners on the final day. The winning team will receive up to N2 million cash prize, along with access to a mentorship program, investor meetings, AWS credits, and media coverage. The second and third-place teams will also receive cash prizes and opportunities to collaborate with Synafare and its partners to further develop their solutions.

Commenting on the launch of the hackathon, Co-founder at Synafare, Segun Allen, said: “We believe in the power of innovation to drive sustainable change. The Synafare Innovation Hackathon 2025 is a platform for young minds and innovators to collaborate, create, and catalyse solutions that will transform Nigeria’s energy landscape. Co-founder of Synafare, Tobi Esho, the hackathon is the firm’s way of fueling innovative ideas and empowering bright minds to create scalable solutions that can transform Nigeria’s energy landscape.”

“Our goal is to turn this challenge into an opportunity by fostering creativity, collaboration, and technology-driven solutions that can have a lasting impact.”
