Lagos, Nigeria – March 13, 2025 – In line with its mission to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy, Synafare has announced the launch of its Innovation Hackathon 2025, a groundbreaking virtual event designed to revolutionize the solar energy ecosystem. The hackathon is scheduled to take place from March 20th to March 22nd, 2025, bringing together innovators, developers, and tech enthusiasts from across Nigeria and beyond.

The Synafare Innovation Hackathon 2025 challenges participants to create cutting-edge digital solutions that address critical inefficiencies in the solar energy value chain. With nearly 40% of Nigerians lacking reliable electricity and businesses relying on diesel generators for over 60% of their energy needs, the hackathon aims to bridge the energy gap by fostering innovative, scalable, and affordable solar energy solutions.

The three-day virtual hackathon will feature intense coding sessions, mentorship from industry leaders, and product demos, culminating in the announcement of winners on the final day. The winning team will receive up to ₦2 million cash prize, along with access to a mentorship program, investor meetings, AWS credits, and media coverage. The second and third-place teams will also receive cash prizes and opportunities to collaborate with Synafare and its partners to further develop their solutions.

Commenting on the launch of the hackathon, Segun Allen, Co Founder at Synafare, said: “We believe in the power of innovation to drive sustainable change. The Synafare Innovation Hackathon 2025 is a platform for young minds and innovators to collaborate, create, and catalyze solutions that will transform Nigeria’s energy landscape. By addressing critical inefficiencies in the solar value chain, we aim to empower communities, businesses, and industries with affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy.”

Nigeria’s power supply gap is a deeply rooted challenge that affects millions of lives and businesses daily. At Synafare, we’ve seen firsthand how the lack of reliable electricity hinders growth and limits opportunities. We believe that solar energy presents a tremendous opportunity to not only bridge this gap but also drive sustainable development. The Synafare Innovation Hackathon 2025 is our way of fueling innovative ideas and empowering bright minds to create scalable solutions that can transform Nigeria’s energy landscape. Our goal is to turn this challenge into an opportunity by fostering creativity, collaboration, and technology-driven solutions that can have a lasting impact.” — Tobi Esho, Co-Founder, Synafare.
