SpaceX was founded with the vision that humanity’s future is brighter when we explore beyond Earth. Today, we are actively developing the technology to make life multi-planetary, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SpaceX is seeking passionate and driven students for Summer 2025 Engineering Internship/Co-op roles. As an intern, you will collaborate closely with experienced mentors and team members on impactful projects. You will also have opportunities to participate in networking and professional development events.

Internship positions are available across various engineering teams, including design, manufacturing, and operations at the following locations:

  • Bastrop, TX
  • Brownsville, TX
  • Cape Canaveral, FL
  • Hawthorne (Los Angeles), CA
  • Irvine, CA
  • McGregor (Waco), TX
  • Redmond, WA
  • Vandenberg, CA

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in engineering, physics, or mathematics by the start of employment.
  • 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internships, lab work, or personal/team projects qualify).
  • Must meet U.S. Government export regulations:
    • U.S. citizen or national
    • U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
    • Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157
    • Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158

Preferred Qualifications

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • 6+ months of applied technical experience outside of coursework (e.g., research, internships, extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects).
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace.

Additional Requirements

  • Full-time availability (minimum 12 consecutive weeks) starting in May or June 2025.
  • Must provide own transportation for positions located in Bastrop, Brownsville, Cape Canaveral, McGregor, and Vandenberg.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Engineering Intern (Freshman/Sophomore): $28.00/hour
  • Engineering Intern (Junior/Senior): $30.00/hour
  • Eligible for relocation stipend.

Falcon Program

Developing and enhancing the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy reusable launch vehicles. Supporting national security, commercial, and NASA missions. Roles include:

  • Propulsion Engineering
  • Recovery Engineering
  • Launch Site Operations & Engineering

Building the largest satellite constellation to provide global high-speed internet. Roles include:

  • Automation & Controls

  • Software Development
  • Supply Chain Engineering

Starshield Program

Leveraging Starlink technology for U.S. national security applications in earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. Roles include:

  • Avionics

  • Structures Engineering

Starship Program

Developing the world’s most powerful reusable spacecraft for missions to Earth orbit, the Moon, and Mars. Roles include:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering

  • Propulsion Engineering
  • Structures Design & Engineering
  • Test Engineering

ITAR Requirements

To comply with U.S. Government export regulations, applicants must be:

  • U.S. citizen or national
