The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council has unveiled plans for its flagship 48th Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE), with a strong push for local content development and technological innovation as key drivers of Nigeria’s energy transition.

The conference, which will be held from August 4 to 6, 2025, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, is themed, “Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Leveraging Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Policy.”

NAICE 2025 is expected to attract major stakeholders from across Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain to deliberate on pathways for creating an energy sector that is resilient, inclusive, and future-ready.

The Chairperson of the SPE Nigeria Council, Amina Danmadami, said this year’s gathering would challenge stakeholders to bridge gaps between innovation and policy frameworks.

“This year’s theme is a call to action; to integrate innovation with policy, digital talent with real-world challenges, and global best practice with local ingenuity, ensuring Nigeria remains at the forefront of the energy transition,” she said.

It was added that industry leaders will demonstrate how digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, and digital twin systems can help operators improve efficiency, drive down costs, and enhance environmental performance.

However, the council stressed that achieving a sustainable energy future goes beyond technology alone. It noted that sessions will also focus on the localisation of the energy supply chain, strengthening Nigeria’s local supply chain to reduce overdependence on foreign inputs and unlock new jobs for local communities.
