Senator Haruna Manu of Taraba Central Senatorial District has concluded a two-day ICT training programme, equipping students from his constituency with essential digital skills and distributing over 500 laptops to participants.
The programme, which wrapped up on Thursday, was held across three local government areas in Taraba Central: Gassol, Bali, and Kurmi. The initiative is part of the senator’s effort to prepare his constituents for Taraba State’s proposed technology village, a project spearheaded by Governor Agbu Kefas to drive technological innovation and development in the state.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Hon Usman Aruwa, Commissioner for Science and Technology, urged the students to embrace ICT as a tool for self-empowerment and economic growth. “This exercise is to prepare you for the opportunities that the proposed Taraba Technology Village will bring. You’ve been equipped with the skills to empower yourselves and contribute meaningfully to this groundbreaking project,” he said.
Hon Veronica Alhassan, representing Bali 1 Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, echoed the sentiment. She commended Senator Manu’s initiative, encouraging the participants to use the knowledge and tools provided to build a brighter future.

The event was part of Senator Manu’s broader agenda to promote digital literacy and youth empowerment. Earlier in the year, the senator had organised a similar initiative, providing starter packs to over 1,000 constituents, demonstrating his commitment to equipping Taraba’s youth with the resources needed to thrive in a digital economy.
Held at key locations in Jalingo, the programme culminated in a ceremony that celebrated the participants’ achievements and underscored the importance of ICT in shaping the future of Taraba State. As beneficiaries walked away with their laptops, the excitement was palpable, reflecting the transformative potential of such initiatives in fostering technological advancement and self-reliance.
