A non-governmental organisation, Sowing Economic Empowerment for Edda Development (SEED), has marked its first anniversary, celebrating exceptional achievements in digital transformation, capacity building, and technological empowerment for individuals and businesses across Nguzu Edda in Afikpo South LGA, Ebonyi State.
Since its inception, SEED ICT Hub has played a pivotal role in bridging the digital divide and fostering innovation within communities by leveraging cutting-edge technology and organisational development strategies.
Over the past year, SEED ICT Hub successfully trained young professionals, entrepreneurs, and students in digital literacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and software development.
Through strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders, government agencies, and international organisations, the hub has empowered participants with the skills and tools necessary to thrive in the ever-evolving digital economy.

Speaking at the anniversary celebration, the ICT Hub facilitator, Mr. Joseph Uka, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from Nguzu Edda indigenous people, participants, and the broader community.
“Our mission has always been to democratise access to technology and foster a culture of digital excellence. In just one year, we have witnessed incredible success stories of pupils leveraging our training programmes to increase their understanding of digital literacy and transform their future careers,” Mr. Uka said.
He further stated that as SEED ICT Hub looks to the future, it remains committed to accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation journey through education, innovation, and strategic collaboration.
On his part, one of the pioneers of the ICT Hub, Dr. Walter Ugwuocha, stated that SEED has made strategic investments in the digital transformation of young people in Edda, which will address issues like early pregnancy, cultism, and underdevelopment. The centre will empower the youth to achieve their dreams.
A major highlight of the anniversary event was the unveiling of SEED ICT Hub’s Expansion Plan, which aims to establish additional training centres, introduce more specialised programmes, and collaborate with global tech leaders to create sustainable digital solutions for Nigeria’s growing economy.
The Hub extends its appreciation to all supporters and invites forward-thinking organisations to join in shaping the future of technology in Africa.
Some of the beneficiaries testified to the importance of the initiative, commending SEED for the empowerment, stating that it has greatly improved their wellbeing.
