Tips for a Successful Application

Winning the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship is competitive. To enhance your chances, consider the following strategies:

Japanese Language Proficiency:

Although a basic level of Japanese is required, higher proficiency (e.g., JLPT N3 or N2) can significantly boost your chances.

Prepare Strong Documentation: Ensure your application materials, including recommendation letters, university admission documents, and personal statements, are meticulously prepared and demonstrate your genuine interest in studying in Japan.

Build Connections with Target Universities:

For graduate students, establishing relationships with potential supervisors or professors can strengthen your application and improve your chances of securing a recommendation letter.

Adhere to Deadlines:

Managing your time effectively is crucial to meet both application submission deadlines and arrival requirements.

Eligible Nationalities:

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities except Japanese.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship, applicants must:

University Enrollment: Be scheduled to enroll in a Japanese university or graduate school by April or Fall 2025. A copy of the university or graduate school application must be submitted with the scholarship application. Graduate school candidates must also provide a recommendation letter from a professor or supervisor from their targeted institution.

Japanese Language Proficiency:

Have at least a basic understanding of Japanese, equivalent to the JLPT N4 level.

Exclusions:

The scholarship is not available for students enrolling in language schools, universities outside Japan, or research students.

Application Procedure:

The application process involves the following steps:
