President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Francis-Wale Oke, has urged the church to champion a national rebirth that will bring about the desired new Nigeria.
Speaking at the opening of the 18th National Biennial Conference and the 40th anniversary of the PFN in Abuja, Oke said there was hope for Nigeria, adding that the country was designed to be a leader in Africa, and urged the church to remain passionate about this task, to ensure the fulfilment of the divine mandate.
Oke urged Christians to remember that God poured His Spirit on them to enable the church to help Nigeria to achieve its apostolic mandate. He explained that the theme of the conference, “The rebirth of a great nation”, based on Isaiah 60:8, reflected the call for action, noting that Heaven is ready to help, but Christians must contribute through prayer, teaching, evangelism, and discipleship.
In his remarks, the General Overseer of the All Christians Fellowship Mission, Dr William Okoye, reiterated that the church had an important role to play for Nigeria to experience rebirth.
He said: “Our problem as a church is misplaced priority and we must fix that if we want to see a national rebirth. The church must raise people that cannot be compromised or bought over”.
MEANWHILE, President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Bishop Francis Wale Oke on his re-election as the national president of the PFN. PFN re-elected Oke at the 18th Biennial National Conference in Abuja.
In congratulating the Christian faithful for the reelection, President Tinubu described the clergyman as a man of fine character, principle, and faith and encouraged him to continue using the pulpit to teach the good gospel of love, kindness, and peace as embodied by Jesus Christ.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the Presdident, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement, yesterday, quoted President Tinubu as praying for the bishop’s fresh anointing as he continued his leadership role.
