President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Dr. Fene Osakwe on winning the prestigious Cyber Personality of the Year award at the 2025 Cyber Security Awards in the United Kingdom.

Osakwe, the Chairman of the Lagos State Cybersecurity Advisory Board, made history as the first African to receive this award, triumphing over top contenders from the United States, the UAE, Qatar, the Netherlands, and the UK.

He was recognised for his exceptional leadership, advocacy, and expertise in cybersecurity and data privacy.

In his message, contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed Osakwe’s groundbreaking achievement, describing him as an “exceptional Nigerian” and a shining example of the nation’s innovative and pace-setting youth.

The President also emphasised the importance of young African professionals making a global impact in cybersecurity and other cutting-edge fields.

“Dr. Osakwe’s well-deserved recognition underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in the digital space.

“His dedication and expertise continue to evolve new horizons in cybersecurity, and we are immensely proud of his accomplishments”, President Tinubu stated.

The President wished Dr. Osakwe continued success in his endeavours and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering an environment where young Nigerian professionals can thrive on the global stage.

Dr. Osakwe’s win adds to Nigeria’s growing reputation as a hub for cybersecurity excellence, highlighting the nation’s role in shaping the future of digital security.
