The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reiterated its dedication to integrating more ICT tools into its mobilization process to improve efficiency and security.

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, made this known in his keynote address at the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilization Workshop, held in Abuja. The workshop, themed “Strengthening the NYSC Mobilization Process through Improved Technology and Collaboration with Stakeholders,” brought together key actors in the Corps’ operations.

General Nafiu emphasized that the Scheme will continue to train its mobilization officers in critical areas such as data verification, error resolution, emergency response, and cybersecurity especially for staff managing sensitive information. He noted that this move is imperative given the rising volume of threats and attacks targeting the NYSC’s mobilization system.

He further stressed that reforming the mobilization process is necessary in today’s rapidly evolving society. “We at NYSC recognize that by embracing technology, building stronger partnerships, investing in infrastructure, and deploying the right skills, we can significantly improve efficiency, enrich the experience of both prospective and serving Corps Members, and sustain the Scheme’s role in national development,” he stated.

General Nafiu called on all partner agencies, particularly Corps-producing institutions, to fast-track their adoption of technological upgrades to facilitate seamless and effective collaboration.

“Let us not betray the trust placed in us. Let us commit to upholding integrity over shortcuts, innovate for better service delivery, and work together for the progress of our nation. We stand at the edge of transformation with technology as our tool and collaboration as our guide, we can create a mobilization system that is secure, intelligent, and service-oriented,” he affirmed.

He also acknowledged ongoing efforts to align the Scheme’s mobilization system with shifts in Nigeria’s educational policies, but pointed out persistent challenges. These include data inconsistencies from institutions, submission of unqualified or part-time graduates, system glitches causing delays, and attempts to falsify records.

Also speaking at the event, the Director of Corps Mobilization, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, described the workshop as a platform for NYSC, Corps-producing institutions, and other stakeholders to collaborate and refine the mobilization process.

While recognizing progress made through joint efforts, he cautioned that fraudulent uploads of unqualified graduates remain a concern. “This process is crucial for national development, but it is plagued by issues especially dishonest entries. We must remain vigilant and proactive,” Abubakar said.

He urged all participants to carry out their duties with diligence and integrity, ensuring that only accurate and verified information on prospective Corps Members is submitted.
