The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has strengthened its partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to accelerate digital capacity building and skills development across Nigeria.
Receiving the UNITAR delegation in Abuja, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to empowering Nigerians with digital skills that align with international standards, in line with the Agency’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0).
While emphasizing that collaboration with global institutions like UNITAR is vital to nurturing a globally competitive digital workforce, he highlighted NITDA’s initiatives such as the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL), Digital Transformation Technical Working Groups (DTTWGs), and the Talent Hunt Programme, noting that these reflect the Agency’s holistic approach to building Nigeria’s human capital and fostering innovation.
Commending NITDA’s vision, Mr. Sadiq Rabiu, Special Assistant to the President on Capacity Building, praised the Agency’s structured approach to digital development, while Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto, Director at UNITAR, lauded NITDA’s commitment to inclusivity and responsible innovation.
Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration will deliver impactful programmes in digital education, AI, cyber security, and governance.
