The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced that the inaugural Startup Consultative Forum will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Abuja, marking a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s fast-evolving tech ecosystem.
According to Hadiza Umar, NITDA’s Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, the forum is a landmark event aimed at deepening collaboration between the government and key players in the startup space.
It will bring together startup founders, innovators, ecosystem enablers, and investment partners to jointly influence national policies and frameworks that promote growth and digital transformation.
This initiative is anchored in the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA) and represents a significant step toward making startups not just beneficiaries of policy, but active contributors in shaping the innovation economy.

A key focus of the meeting will be the nomination and election of representatives for the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the country’s top advisory body for tech and innovation.
The forum will encourage open dialogue and provide startups and stakeholders with a platform to voice their needs, share insights, and help build an inclusive, forward-looking policy environment.
NITDA is calling on all NSA-labelled startups, verified innovation hubs, angel investors, venture capitalists, and other key players in the ecosystem to participate actively in the forum and the selection process.
The decisions and discussions from this first consultative meeting are expected to set the tone for a more responsive and participatory approach to policy-making—one that reflects the ambitions and challenges of Nigeria’s vibrant tech and startup community.
