The Director-General of the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Dr Olushola Odusanya, has announced major reforms transforming the agency into a leading force in Nigeria’s science, technology, and innovation (STI) space.
Speaking at a media interactive session in Abuja on Wednesday, Odusanya said NACETEM has fully digitised its operations, including staff promotion exercises—cutting costs, ending unnecessary travel, and boosting transparency.
He revealed that NACETEM is now at the forefront of Nigeria’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy drive, ensuring the nation is well-positioned for the global digital future.
“NACETEM has fully digitised its operations, saving time, cost, and enhancing transparency. We are leading Nigeria’s Artificial Intelligence policy dialogues to ensure our nation is future-ready.
“Nigeria’s future will not be written in the language of problems, but in the language of solutions powered by innovation.”
The DG highlighted stronger partnerships with universities, research institutes, industry, and government, as well as expanded postgraduate and professional training programmes to build the nation’s STI capacity.
Odusanya also unveiled two flagship initiatives: the One Million Skills Training Programme and the National Welders Training and Certification, including underwater welding for oil, gas and marine sectors.
While noting challenges such as funding and infrastructure gaps, he said that they are opportunities to innovate and strengthen the economy.
He appealed to the media to support NACETEM’s mission: “Engage with us, verify from us, and let us work together for a knowledge-driven Nigeria.”
