The Federal Government has announced plans to host the first-ever National Cybersecurity Conference as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital defences and foster a secure technology ecosystem.

The disclosure was made in a statement on Sunday by the National Information Technology Development Agency, which is organising the event in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Scheduled to take place from July 9 to 10, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, the conference is themed ‘Securing Nigeria’s Digital Future: Innovation, Collaboration, and Resilience’.

According to the Director-General of NITDA, the event underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to building cyber resilience and safeguarding national digital infrastructure as Nigeria accelerates its transition to a technology-driven economy.

“As we embrace the opportunities of the digital age, we must also be vigilant against rising cyber threats. This conference marks a strategic intervention to align national efforts and shape cybersecurity policy, innovation, and collaboration,” the statement quoted the DG as saying.

NITDA stated that the two-day hybrid conference, organised in partnership with QNA International, a Dubai-based industry events leader, will bring together cybersecurity experts, innovators, public and private sector stakeholders, and emerging Nigerian talent.

Key features of the event include technical workshops, product exhibitions, keynote addresses by global cybersecurity leaders, panel sessions, a Capture the Flag hackathon to identify and empower youth, and an award dinner recognising outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s cybersecurity landscape.

The strategic objectives of the conference include strengthening cyber resilience, promoting international cooperation in combating cybercrime, advancing workforce development, and encouraging inter-agency and multi-sectoral coordination.

The DG called on stakeholders across government, the private sector, academia, civil society, and the media to actively participate in shaping a more secure digital future.

“This is more than a conference; it’s a national mission. We count on your voices, your expertise, and your commitment to make Nigeria a global leader in cybersecurity,” the statement added.

NITDA also acknowledged the media’s crucial role in raising public awareness and called on journalists to support sensitisation efforts ahead of the event.
