Nigeria is positioning itself as Africa’s premier tech powerhouse with a wave of high-profile digital events and strategic initiatives designed to attract global investors, boost innovation, and accelerate economic diversification.

Three major conferences — GITEX Nigeria, ICEGOV, and Digital Nigeria — are set to unfold in 2025, showcasing Nigeria’s surging tech ecosystem. Spearheaded by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and backed by president Bola Tinubu’s reform-driven agenda, these events are expected to generate over $25 million in revenue and draw tens of thousands of participants. GITEX Nigeria will highlight fast-growing sectors like AI, fintech, e-commerce, edtech, agritech, and healthtech. With fintech alone projected to reach $15 billion by 2025, the conference offers a vital platform for startups to secure investment and scale globally.

As part of this development, Wini University — the country’s first AI-focused university — is set to open in Lagos, aiming to train a new generation in emerging technologies such as blockchain and quantum computing. Inspired by Qatar’s AI model, the institution seeks to turn Lagos into Africa’s version of Silicon Valley. Meanwhile, a new partnership with the US. Market Access Center (USMAC) promises to connect Nigerian entrepreneurs with global markets, particularly in the United States, unlocking funding and partnership opportunities. Together, these efforts mark a pivotal shift in Nigeria’s digital journey, as the nation embraces innovation to transform its economy, reduce unemployment, and become a global player in technology and entrepreneurship.
