About the retreatRegistrationAbout NEMA

The once-in-five-year retreat of the  Nigeria Evangelical Missions Association (NEMA)  has been scheduled to hold from November 19-21 2024 at the First Baptist Church, Port Harcourt Cresent, Area 11, Abuja.

The theme of the retreat according to a statement signed by NEMA executive Secretary Andrew Gwaivangmin is Jesus: the Model.

It will feature inspiring plenaries and various breakout sessions where participants will be challenged and encouraged to serve passionately and committedly in all humility after the example found in Christ.

About the retreat

Gwaivangmin stated that the retreat will provide a platform whereby participating missionaries can network with others, including those working in similar fields or regions.

Nigerian missionaries, both at home and abroad will come together for the retreat to be recharged and to receive further equipping for the task ahead. The retreat is also open to non-NEMA member agencies, whether currently serving in Nigeria or abroad.

The retreat is free, but registration is compulsory for all participants. Freewill donations are encouraged and would be appreciated.

NEMA in the statement appealed to the kind-hearted Nigerian Christian community to help in sponsoring a missionary for as low as N20,000, which covers subsidized accommodation, meals, and conference materials.

Various mission agencies, ministries, and organizations will be allowed to showcase their work, resources, and opportunities at the three-day event.

Registration

Gwaivangmin in a statement appealed to intending participants who are yet to register to do so early in order to secure their participation, as the deadline for registration is October 19th, 2024.

Intending participants are also encouraged to spend time in prayer and reflection. “They may also want to review any materials related to their ministry focus. They are also encouraged to gather the personal items they will need for the retreat, and make every effort to connect with fellow missionaries who will be attending.” The statement reads.

As part of the organizer’s efforts to ensure full inclusion during the retreat, it will provide interpretation services for Hausa speakers. This is to ensure that all participants can fully engage in the sessions and discussions.

About NEMA

NEMA is the umbrella body of the Nigerian missions movement. Established in 1982, NEMA currently serves over 180 denominations and missions organisations that collectively have over 16,000 Nigerian missionaries serving in 197 countries.
