The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has unveiled six cutting-edge Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Parks nationwide to accelerate digital innovation, empower local entrepreneurs, and stimulate economic growth.

The announcement was made by NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida, during the official handover of one of the parks to the Federal University of Transport Technology in Daura, Katsina State.

Dr. Maida highlighted that the ICT Parks initiative is a strategic move aligned with Nigeria’s national digital economy policy. The parks will serve as incubation hubs for homegrown tech solutions, fostering digital entrepreneurship and research.

“Technology is the biggest driver of economic growth and development in the 21st century. For Nigeria, it offers a clear path to economic transformation,” said Maida.

Each ICT park is equipped with high-speed computers, advanced networking systems, and simulation rooms designed to support innovation, research, and skills development.

The Daura facility specifically features five ICT hub halls, a 24-seat lab with dual workstations, a 100-seat conference hall, and multiple offices and collaborative workspaces.

The park is also expected to support education and innovation in railway engineering, logistics, and transport management, contributing to broader advancements in Nigeria’s transport infrastructure.

“Our vision is to build a robust ecosystem where state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure drives research and education in railway, marine, and air transport technologies,” Maida added. He urged students, researchers, and the wider Daura community to take full advantage of the new facility to develop innovative solutions and enhance local content.

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Transport Technology, Prof. Umar Katsayal, expressed gratitude to the NCC for the investment.

He assured that the ICT park would be optimally utilized for academic activities, research, and simulation training, while also pledging to maintain and secure the facility to prevent vandalism and misuse.

With these ICT parks, the NCC aims to position Nigeria as a hub for digital innovation and technological advancement in Africa.
