The Methodist Church Nigeria has announced that it will review the emoluments of its workers in line with the current economic realities in the country.

Speaking at the 49th/14th Biennial Conference of the church, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, stated that church workers are faced with the same challenges as the average Nigerian.

“Based on the current state of the nation’s economy, all church workers are daily confronted with the same challenges facing the average Nigerian.

“In view of the recent agreement between the FGN and the organized labour which led to the minimum wage of Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000), our church must act accordingly to raise the morale of her workforce,” the Prelate said.

The Prelate revealed that a committee has been set up to review the emoluments of church workers and present an interim report to the conference.

Delegates at the conference are expected to discuss and approve the new emoluments for church workers, and the Prelate urged them to speak to the issue at hand and ensure that the church takes care of its workers.
