The Lagos State Government has sealed a Redeemed Christian Church of God and a Celestial Church of Christ due to noise pollution.

In addition, several other establishments, including Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, Charley’s Bar, 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites, and a printing press, were also shut down for the same infraction.

According to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), the enforcement operations took place in areas such as Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland. This action is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with environmental laws and safeguard public health.

LASEPA stated on Wednesday, saying: “In a decisive step towards tackling noise pollution and other environmental violations, LASEPA sealed off multiple establishments across various parts of Lagos State. Among the closed establishments are Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, Celestial Church of Christ, a printing press, Charley’s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites. These businesses were found guilty of violating environmental regulations despite several warnings from LASEPA.”

The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance policy toward non-compliance with environmental laws, stating: “We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations.” He urged businesses to recognize their environmental responsibilities and work with the state government to create a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos.

This enforcement action comes less than two weeks after LASEPA sealed Donald’s Lounge, a 24-hour fast-food restaurant owned by popular Instagram celebrity Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest.

State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, explained that Donald’s Lounge, located along Adebayo Doherty Street in Lekki Phase 1, was closed due to excessive noise pollution. Wahab noted that the action was taken after the restaurant repeatedly ignored warnings from the agency.
