Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., has invited the recently exonerated Dr. Eithan Haim to attend President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress in March as a guest of honor.

Haim, 34, told The Christian Post he received the invitation earlier this week after Hawley spoke to him on the phone Sunday.

The invite, which Hawley’s office confirmed to CP, came days after a federal judge dismissed the case against the whistleblowing Texas surgeon, whose situation prompted Hawley to personally intervene with the Trump administration on his behalf last Friday.

Haim said he “100 percent” plans to attend the president’s speech in the U.S. Capitol on March 4, and that he feels vindicated after nearly two years of draining battles against a gender ideology he believes is beginning to crumble.

“The whole thing was crazy to begin with,” Haim told CP of the case against him. “It should have never even been brought.”

Haim said he had no regrets, despite having potentially faced a decade in prison and up to $250,000 in fines for leaking documents to journalist Christopher F. Rufo in 2023. The documents showed Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) was continuing to perform so-called “gender-affirming services” on minors despite telling the public it had paused such procedures, according to City Journal.

“Not for a minute has the thought even entered my mind of anything resembling the sensation or emotion of regret,” Haim said, adding that such an attitude also seems to prevail in other individuals who were unfairly prosecuted under the Biden administration.

“I think you see that in a lot of the people who have been persecuted by the Biden regime,” he said. “You have people who did the right thing or were falsely persecuted, but they have this spirit about them that is kind of surprising, given everything they’ve been through. And I think that spirit comes from the knowledge of unjust persecution.”

“In my situation, I know I did the right thing,” he continued. “There’s no question about that. They were mutilating and sterilizing children, and not only that, but they were lying about it. So, as a doctor, my responsibility is to do something about that, and I did.”

Within 24 hours of Rufo’s story breaking in May 2023, the Texas state Legislature passed SB-14, which rendered such procedures for minors illegal in the state effective Sept. 1 of that year.

The internal documents Haim leaked had redacted personally identifiable patient information, but the U.S. Department of Justice slapped him with four felony counts last June after he “obtained personal information including patient names, treatment codes and the attending physician from Texas Children’s Hospital’s electronic system without authorization,” according to a DOJ press release.

A month after Haim’s leak and before he had gone public with his identity, two agents with Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General showed up on his porch in Houston on June 23, the day of his residency graduation.

He told CP he believes the federal government knew of his identity immediately after he leaked the TCH documents, but laid in wait to humiliate him and ruin one of the most important days of his life.

“They could have come any day because they knew who I was immediately, but they chose that day specifically,” he said.

Haim eventually went public with his identity and made the rounds with major conservative media figures, but the case continued to hover over him and he faced a trial on Feb. 10 until Hawley entreated Trump’s DOJ to intervene last week.

Days before, Eithan and his wife Andrea — who serves as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas — went viral on X for their lengthy statements accusing the DOJ of defying Trump’s executive order ending the political weaponization of the federal government.

Haim told CP that others were involved in his case being thrown out, but credited Hawley with playing a major role. “It was the culmination of a lot of moving parts, but a big part of that was Josh Hawley, that’s for sure,” he said.

Less than two hours after Hawley tweeted about discussing his case with the Trump administration last Friday, the case had been dismissed.

Haim, who told CP previously that he has sensed God’s providence throughout his ordeal, said he hopes he has contributed to a domino effect that will topple radical gender ideology.

He noted Trump’s recent executive order this week titled “Protecting Children From Chemical And Surgical Castration,” which Haim thinks “is one of the dominoes.”

Along with directing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to “take all appropriate actions to end the chemical and surgical mutilation of children,” Trump’s order also mandates the agency to “issue new guidance protecting whistleblowers” who report the performance of gender transition procedures on minors.

“None of this was ever based on anything good or anything real,” Haim said of such procedures. “And now that more people are accepting that fact, this is going to become criminalized in the way it always should have been criminalized, both for adults and children.”

Hawley urged Congress on Friday to pass legislation he introduced Wednesday that would “give the child victims of transgender surgeries and treatments the right to sue those doctors and pharma companies who profited off them.”

Despite what he has been through, Haim remains humble, describing Hawley’s invitation as “a huge, huge honor that I am not worthy of.”

“Because it’s a big deal, you know?” he said when asked why he feels unworthy to attend. “And for me, I feel like I’m just a regular dude.”

Haim noted the importance of standing up for future generations has become “very real” to him since recently having his first child, a baby girl.

“The only future they have is the future we fight for, and if we’re not willing to fight for it now, then when are we going to do it?”

Haim’s legal defense fund on GiveSendGo has raised more than $1.3 million as of Friday, though he noted he still faces more than $1 million in legal fees.
