Verteil Technologies, a provider of direct connect platform that enhances the accessibility of travel by seamlessly connecting airlines and travel sellers has continued to redefine how airlines and travel agents sell and distribute products in Nigeria and across the world.

The platform has empowered thousands of travel sellers to navigate the complexities of the flight booking process effortlessly leveraging NDC based direct connect technology.

Speaking at an exclusive evening event with airlines and travel agents in Lagos Nigeria recently, Satheesh Satchit, co-founder and Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Verteil Technologies highlighted how Verteil’s innovative technology empowers airlines to distribute their products and services to travel sellers worldwide at significantly reduced costs.

“This means that airlines can significantly reduce their distribution costs, which is particularly impactful given that distribution ranks as the third-largest expense for airlines, following fuel and staff costs. The platform also allows them to move into a more retailing world.”

Satheesh Satchit goes on to explain, “So today, they just sell commodities. Commodity means seat. They are only able to sell seats. Tomorrow, they will be able to sell a lot of things like car rentals, hotels, meals, Wi-Fi vouchers, and lunch access, amongst others. A person traveling on a flight is a potential customer for many such additional services called ancillaries. Ancillaries can be air-related or non-air-related products. Anything which makes sense to a traveler can be sold,”.

He further explained that before now, airlines were not able to fully introduce a range of such ancillaries through the distribution channel due to limitations in the prevailing distribution technology, which gets completely addressed now in a NDC based direct connect distribution environment.

He hinted that the Verteil platform also gives Travel Sellers that opportunity to sell more and more products and services and move into a more retailing way of doing things.

“This is an International Air Transport Association (IATA)-led initiative which started way back in 2012. It is a New Distribution Capability (NDC). Because of the cost of distribution, airlines and IATA decided to actually launch this initiative where they created a standard called NDC, and technology companies like Verteil built the technology based on that standard. We are an IATA-certified NDC aggregator,” Satheesh Satchit explained.

He said for Verteil Technologies, Nigeria is a very big market with a lot of customers and opportunities
