The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship is a life-changing leadership journey designed for young African leaders. The program is rooted in the principles of reconciliation, education, entrepreneurship, and leadership, inspired by Nelson Mandela’s legacy. The scholarship provides comprehensive funding for postgraduate studies at a recognized South African university, covering tuition, accommodation, meals, travel expenses, study materials, and more. The program includes a series of week-long residential workshops aimed at nurturing both personal and professional growth.

Who can apply for the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship For Africans?
The eligibility criteria include:
- Applicants must have academic marks above 70% or an upper second-class honours degree.
- Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 29 at the time of application and under 30 when taking up the scholarship.
- Applicants completing their undergraduate degree in 2025 can apply, provided they finish by 1 January 2026.
- Leadership experience in campus or community activities is required.
- Applicants must meet specific course entry requirements for their intended degree, including possible SAQA verification for qualifications.
- Applicants must apply separately to their chosen university, as the Mandela Rhodes Foundation does not apply on their behalf.
- Studies must be conducted in English.
- Participation in mandatory residential workshops and regional pods is required; mentoring is optional.
