Overview of AIT Royal Thai Government Scholarships

The AIT Royal Thai Government Scholarships 2025 are now open for applications from both domestic and international students. This prestigious scholarship program allows students to pursue Masters and PhD level degrees in all subjects offered at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

About the Scholarships

The Royal Thai Government (RTG) provides a range of scholarships designed to support talented individuals from Thailand and across Asia. These scholarships aim to foster excellence in education by enabling students to study in a world-class academic environment. The program emphasizes cross-cultural understanding and collaboration among the diverse communities in Asia.

The Royal Thai Government Scholarships offer various opportunities for students pursuing advanced degrees at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Below are the types of scholarships available:

1. His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for Doctoral Programs

These scholarships are intended for exceptional candidates seeking to pursue a Ph.D. in any field offered by the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) or the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD) at AIT. Eligible candidates include individuals from the following regions:

  • Bhutan, Laos PDR, and Timor-Leste
  • ASEAN countries
  • Other Asian countries

2. His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for Master’s Programs

This scholarship is designed for students with outstanding undergraduate achievements who aspire to pursue a master’s degree at the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) or the School of Management (SOM) at AIT.

3. Her Majesty the Queen’s Scholarships for Master’s Programs

These scholarships are tailored for students with exemplary undergraduate records, supporting them in pursuing a master’s degree in environment-related programs offered by the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD).

4. Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS Scholarships) for Master’s Programs

Named in honor of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, these scholarships aim to enhance human resource development in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), which includes Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, and Southern China (Yunnan and Guangxi provinces). The scholarship supports academic programs in:

  • Infrastructure Development
  • Energy Technology
  • Oil, Gas, and Natural Resources Development
  • Environmental Engineering and Management

  • Duration: Covers tuition, registration fees, accommodation, and a living allowance for 41 months (7 semesters).
  • Total Value: Each scholarship is valued at approximately 1.96 million Thai Baht (MB).

Scholarship Coverage for Master’s Programs

  • Duration: Covers tuition, accommodation, and living expenses for 22 months.
  • Total Value: Each scholarship is valued at approximately 1.10 million Thai Baht (MB).

Eligible Nationalities

The AIT Royal Thai Government Scholarships are open to students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

Doctoral Programs

To be eligible for the Doctoral Programs, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Academic Requirement: A minimum GPA of 3.5 in both undergraduate and master’s degree programs from accredited institutions.
  • Recommendation Letters: Two recommendation letters are required.
  • Research Proposal: A detailed research proposal must be submitted.
  • English Proficiency: An English proficiency score of IELTS 6.0 or AIT EET ≥ 6.0.

Master’s Programs

For those applying to the Master’s Programs, the eligibility criteria include:

  • Academic Requirement: A minimum GPA of 3.5 in a 4-year undergraduate program from an accredited institution.
  • English Proficiency: An English proficiency score of IELTS 6.0 or AIT EET ≥ 6.0.
