The founder of the Love of Christ Generation Church C&S (Worldwide), Reverend Esther Ajayi, has said that though the country is currently going through tough economic times, citizens should not despair, as people in different parts of the world are also experiencing similar pains.
Speaking at a media briefing on Friday in Lagos, Ajayi also shared plans to celebrate her church’s 17th anniversary billed for today at its headquarters on Victoria Island.
She said, “Nigerians are not asking for too much. We just want food on our table, steady electricity, good roads and water; and other things will fall in place.”
The popular cleric, however, added that the present situation bedeviling the country was not peculiar to Nigerians alone, as some developed nations were facing similar pangs.
She said, “I have just returned from the United Kingdom and I can tell you that the prices of electricity and gas (petrol) are on the high side.
“We fed many homeless people during a recent crusade in the United Kingdom, so the issue of economic crunch is not peculiar to Nigerians alone.”
She also stated that the 17th anniversary is a celebration of “God’s faithfulness” and would be attended by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, among other esteemed personalities.
“The event is scheduled for 10am on Sunday (today), and we are using this opportunity to invite Nigerians and all our well wishers.
“There is nothing to worry about security-wise, as we have officers of the Nigeria Police Force and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority on standby.
“There will also be buses to convey our members and other well wishers from designated areas in Lagos State,” Ajayi added.
