DAAD-LSM Fully Funded PhD Scholarship 2025

In the forthcoming Winter Semester 2025/2026, the Class of Language at the Graduate School of Language & Literature, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) is offering the following PhD positions:

  1. One GSSP PhD-Scholarship (DAAD) – Fully funded.
  2. Regular Non-Funded PhD Positions – For self-funded students.

The DAAD-funded GSSP PhD Scholarship includes:

  • Monthly stipend of €1,300
  • Travel allowance

Eligibility Criteria

General Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) with a major in one of the listed subjects.
  • Minimum grade requirement: Final thesis grade and overall grade must not fall below 2.50.
  • Language proficiency:
    • At least two European academic languages (one must be German).
    • Knowledge of a non-European academic language is an asset.
  • Commitment to active participation in a structured doctoral program.

Additional DAAD Scholarship Requirements

  • International applicants only (must not have lived in Germany for more than 15 months before May 1, 2025).
  • Degree completion within the last six years (as of May 1, 2025).
  • Must not have completed a PhD previously.
  • Research phases outside Germany (up to 25% of the funding period) are supported.
  • Applicants from developing and emerging nations are encouraged to apply.

Selection Procedure
