Types of Scholarships
1. Traditional Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded at the start of your college education and are paid directly to your institution.
- Availability: Opens in early January each year.
- Deadline: Priority applications are due by mid-March.
- Eligibility: Open to students at all academic levels, including:
- High school or GED graduates of all ages.
- Incoming freshmen or upperclassmen.
- Non-traditional or returning students.
2. SC4 Foundation Scholarships
The Community Foundation also manages specific funds for the SC4 Foundation.
Eligible Schools and Programs
Scholarship funds can be used at:
- Colleges and universities.
- Skilled trade and vocational training centers.
- Both Michigan-based and out-of-state institutions.
Life Needs Assistance Program
Removing Financial Barriers for College Students
The Life Needs Program provides need-based financial support for college students facing unexpected challenges, such as:
- Transportation costs.
- Groceries or housing expenses.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a St. Clair County resident.
- Must currently attend a college anywhere in the U.S.
Note: Certain funds, like the Douglas & Elda Webb Fund, are restricted to graduates of Port Huron Schools.
