The Senior Pastor of the Church of God Mission International, Oniru, Lagos, Reverend Chris Ubamadu, has urged churches to be tools in solving societal problems.
The cleric said this during the week at the fourth edition of The Lekki Roundtable, an annual event aimed at exposing Nigerian youths to different opportunities in job creation.
Speaking at the event, which was themed, How to Make Money from Social Media, Ubamadu decried the present state of the nation.
Although he noted that inflation was not limited to Nigeria, he told the participants that they needed to take a conscious step to break away from the financial difficulties that come with today’s world.
Speaking on the purpose of the event, the cleric said, “The Church exists to solve society’s problems. The Church is supposed to be God’s ‘arm’ to address issues that affect individuals, families and nations.”
He added that social media was often seen by many as just an entertainment outlet, whereas it had untapped potential. He said, “It is not merely a platform for sharing memes and videos, it is a powerful tool for businesses to reach millions of consumers simultaneously. Whether you are an entrepreneur, social media influencer, or content creator, social media offers a goldmine of opportunities waiting to be explored.”
Other dignitaries that graced the event were the Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake; President, Benson Idahosa University, Dr Feb Idahosa; Adebowale Adedayo, aka Mr Macaroni; Dr Chinonso Egemba, aka Aproko Doctor; and Nosa Afolabi, aka Lasisi Elenu, among others.
