Church must invest in youth to avert social crisis — Primate Ndukuba

The Most Reverend Dr. Henry Ndukuba, the Archbishop, Metropolitan, and Primate of All Nigeria, has urged churches to invest in the youth to help prevent future societal crises.

Primate Ndukuba emphasized that the church has recently neglected the youth, which has contributed to the current state of crisis in the country, particularly driven by young people.

In an interview marking the 35th anniversary of the Abuja Diocese of the Church, the Anglican Primate stated that the Church of God Anglican Communion is rooted in the Bible, centered on Christ, and focused on family.

He said he has realized that every young boy or girl has a vision, and they have something burning in their hearts, and if they can find people who will affirm them and nurture them, they will blossom.

“Where we fail, they will go the other way, become a thorn in the flesh of the family, the church and the society and that is what is happening now.

“So, children and youth are the future of the family, the church and the society, and the greatest thing we can do is to invest in another life, helping somebody to becoming what he believes what God wants him to be.

“I believe that the greatest investment of the church is in the children and the youth because that is speaking about the future generation, and moreover, up until now the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has suffered some hemorrhage, bleeding.

“We are in the time and generation that the church needs to re-envision her mission, and the greatest weapon that we have are the youth, and I believe that they are God’s children and they have great role to play in God’s Kingdom”, he noted.

Speaking on the journey of Abuja Diocese of the Church Primate Ndukuba said Abuja had played such a dynamic role in shaping the present Anglican Communion in Nigeria.

“We thank God for the opportunity to celebrate the faithfulness of God, His work among us and our work with God for these three and half decades (35 years). God has been so gracious to us right from the very beginning of the Diocese as a mission outpost, we thank God for the vision of our church fathers.

Abuja had played such a dynamic role in shaping the present Anglican Communion in Nigeria. As we celebrate, we are not only celebrating the achievements of the past, we are also contemplating on the present and projecting on what the Lord is going to do into the future.

“We are convinced that in this celebration, we are to be refired, recharged, renewed in faith in God and believing in Him to helping us contending with the challenges of the present”, he added.
