To boost social engagement and advance knowledge, the Catholic Church of Resurrection, Magodo, has commissioned an ultra-modern Mission House, to cater for the welfare of the parish priest and other workers.

Speaking at the unveiling of the house, the Archbishop, Metropolitan Sea of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, said the building would play important role in advancing the cause of Christ and serve as a conducive place for people to share ideas on what need to be done and how it must be done.

He said when people are able to gather to share thoughts and ideas, its create opportunities to bond and be the kind of Christians community that will witness to the value of unity, peace and love that Christ stand for.

Vice Chairman, Parish Finance Council, Catholic Church of the Resurrection, Hon. Francisco Abosede, said the church acquired the land in 2012, built a bungalow on it and later integrated it into the new building.

He said the building which comprises of a recreation centre, e-learning, offices, meeting rooms, society rooms and library, would serve as centre where parishioners and residents of the area can sit, do their work and also study various doctrines of the church.

“We have a form.org whereby people can go online and do some research on religion, not necessarily catholic alone, but they can do all kind of research and gain knowledge. We also intend to run a laboratory where people can do different tests, especially COVID-19,” he said.

According to him, the land alone gulped N100million while the project itself cost about N257million.

The church’s Associate Parish Priest, Father Paul Bastos, assured that the building is not strictly for Christian alone, but meant to promote evangelization.

“Evangelisation is not all about you must believe in Christ or you must become a Christian. It is about living a good live, doing what is good to others,” he said.

The church’s former parish priest, Rev. Fr Michael Etekpo expressed happiness at the completion and unveiling, saying the mustard seed planted during his time, has grown to be a big project.
