The Year of Prayer in preparation for the Church’s 2025 Jubilee Year provides an opportunity for the people of God in Nigeria “to deepen” their relationship with God, the Local Ordinary of Nigeria’s Catholic Diocese of Uromi has said.

Pope Francis announced the start of a Year of Prayer in preparation for the Catholic Church’s 2025 Jubilee Year on January 21, the second in his Pontificate after the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in 2015.

In a statement issued Saturday, April 20, Bishop Donatus Aihmiosion Ogun says he’s to launch the Year of Prayer in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee Year on July 6 in his Episcopal See, a spiritual initiative that he says will run till November 30.

“We are to see this as an opportune moment to deepen our relationship with God through prayer, which in turn will result in the needed renewal that will assist us in appreciating the spiritual significance of the coming Jubilee,” Bishop Ogun says.

He calls upon the people of God under his pastoral care to “apply your usual commitment to this year of prayer in our personal lives, families, communities and parishes.”
