Governor Umaru Bago has made moves to improve technology in Niger State.
As such, the governor has allocated a piece of land to the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to establish its regional office in Minna, the capital of Niger State.
The governor in a statement by his spokesperson, Bologi Ibrahim, on Wednesday presented the Certificate of Occupancy to the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, in Abuja.
“Farmer Umaru Bago who re-echoed the significance of Information Technology to the overall growth and development of any society said his administration is keen on keeping pace with technological advancement in line with global best practices,” Ibrahim said.
“He said, the creation of the state’s Ministry of Communication Technology and Digital economy is in tandem with his desire in advancing the technological landscape of Niger.
NITDA DG Inuwa appreciated Bago’s efforts aimed at promoting the growth and development of the agency in Nigeria.
He further explained that the agency will also build a Center of Excellence for Agric Technology in Niger State.
NITDA is a public service Institution established by the NITDA Act 2007 as the ICT policy implementing arm of the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital economy.
Part of the agency’s mandates is to create a framework for the planning, research, development, application, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and regulation of Information Technology practices and systems in Nigeria.
