Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) Officers Seals Fufu-Making Shop Over Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has intensified its clampdown on environmental offenders, sealing several establishments in different parts of the state for violating environmental regulations, including noise and air pollution.

According to a statement on Tuesday, during an enforcement exercise on Monday, the agency sealed Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church located within Georgius Cole Estate, Ifako-Ijaiye; a fufu-making shop; and Tyonex Nigeria Limited on LASU-Isheri Road, Igando.

The infractions ranged from noise pollution to heat radiation, air pollution, and environmental nuisance.

LASEPA General Manager, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, said the action was part of the agency’s ongoing effort to safeguard public health and promote a cleaner, safer environment in Lagos State.

He expressed concern over the operation of the Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church within a residential estate, despite multiple complaints from residents about persistent noise pollution.

Ajayi emphasised that while freedom of worship is guaranteed under the law, it must not come at the expense of the peace and well-being of others.

The LASEPA boss urged residents and business operators to adhere to environmental regulations, reaffirming the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for all forms of pollution across the state.
