The House of Representatives on Wednesday October 8, adopted Hon. Revd. Francis Waive’s motion for the completion of the Nigeria Institution of Transport Technology, NITT Centre Effuruntor in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The House, urged the Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology, NITT to complete the construction, equip the Effuruntor Centre for operational activities and put it to use.

It also mandated the Committee on Land Transportation, to ensure compliance and report back within four (4) weeks for further legislative action.

Whilst noting that the Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology, was established in 1986 by Decree No, 6 now known as Cap. N 116 of the Federal Laws of Nigeria, 2004, the Legislature, averred that the Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology, offers corporate leadership, strategic management, training, research, advisory services, transport intelligence, monitoring, and technology development to meet the country’s needs.

Fresh Angle International, can report that Revd. Waive, had informed the House that the Effuruntor Centre, is about 50% completed, but has since been abandoned, making it the only centre yet to become operational out of the centres, that were proposed and sited in Katsina, Kano, Borno, Benue, Ekiti, Lagos, Ebony and Delta.

According to the Christian Cleric cum lawmaker, institutions like Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Petroleum Training Institute and other Oil Companies within the area, are waiting for the take-off of the centre, “with the University of Petroleum Resources, signing an MOU with NITT to provide pipeline transportation for the nation’s oil and gas industry at the centre, because of its strategic location.”
