In a groundbreaking move to propel Nigeria into a future driven by technology, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, has launched an innovative ecosystem called TechAdvantage.

This initiative is strategically designed to unleash the vast potential of the nation, fostering economic growth, empowering individuals and ushering in a brighter future.

During the unveiling of TechAdvantage in Abuja on Tuesday, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji emphasised the alignment of this initiative with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda. Nnaji envisioned a Nigeria where innovation becomes the driving force behind economic prosperity and empowerment for all.

“This transformative force is upon us, and the question is not whether TechAdvantage will revolutionise Nigeria, but how we will harness it to shape a prosperous future for our country,” stated Nnaji. Describing TechAdvantage as more than just an online platform, he emphasised its role as an ecosystem where apprentices connect with business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs learn from seasoned experts, and individuals empower themselves through the academy.

Inspired by the successful computer village model, known for its ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit, TechAdvantage translates these qualities into an accessible online ecosystem. Nnaji highlighted the core elements of collaboration, a drive to succeed, and constant adaptation to technology as key components incorporated into TechAdvantage.

The overarching idea behind TechAdvantage Nigeria is to technologically empower individuals while fostering a culture of collaboration that transcends tribal, religious and political boundaries.

“TechAdvantage Nigeria provides the space for interested Nigerians to take control of their growth and empowerment,” urged Nnaji. He specifically encouraged young professionals, artisans and all Nigerians to explore the TechAdvantage online academy, acquire skills for the future, seek opportunities through the jobs platform, build careers in the tech sector, showcase expertise in the online marketplace and join the vibrant community of tech enthusiasts.

“This launch is not just an event but a call to action for our people, the organised private sector, and players in the existing tech ecosystem. With your participation, TechAdvantage Nigeria will become a force for economic prosperity, social inclusion and national pride for our generation and future generations,” concluded Nnaji, imploring active engagement from various sectors to make TechAdvantage a catalyst for Nigeria’s technological advancement and societal well-being.

In his remarks, the group chief executive officer, Sapphital, innovators of the TechAdvantage initiative, Mr. Amu Ogbeide, said the initiative would take the success of computer village business model and scale it across Nigeria.

He also, said that Computer Village serves as a major support system for innovation and technology adoption across the country and a source of livelihood for many Nigerians which are being made possible through a business model that includes technical trainings and apprenticeship, business start up support and mentorship.

In his goodwill remarks, the director- general, National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Dr. Olushola Odunsanya explained that the launch of TechAdvantage is the beginning of the transformation of Nigerian economy and the way to grow the economy of any nation is through cultural practices of that nation.

He further said that the nation has a culture of apprenticeship, where youths are sent to learn a trade and graduate to become business owners, adding that TechAdvantage is designed for the same purpose.
