The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council has called for technology, policy, and supply chain optimisation in the energy sector.
In her welcome address at the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (OLEF 2025) held in Abuja, the Chairman of SPE Nigeria Council, Amina Danmadami, reaffirmed the Forum’s continued role as a premier platform for dialogue and innovation in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
This year’s theme, “Driving Energy Sustainability Through Technology, Policy, and Supply Chain Excellence,” reflects the urgency of modernising Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain while reinforcing its central role in national economic growth and energy security.
Danmadami emphasised that, while the global discourse increasingly tilts toward renewables, Nigeria must focus on optimising its hydrocarbon resources by integrating advanced technologies, robust policy implementation, and resilient supply chain strategies.
“The path to sustainability in our context is not one of displacement, but one of optimisation,” Danmadami said, highlighting the potential of innovations such as AI-driven maintenance, digital oilfields, and reservoir optimisation to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
She also pointed to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) as a critical policy milestone, urging stakeholders to align their investments and operations with the Act’s provisions to ensure transparency and investor confidence. On the supply chain front, the Chairman of SPE Nigeria Council called for a renewed focus on local content, procurement integrity, and logistics optimisation as cornerstones for competitiveness and resilience.
The 2025 edition of OLEF featured a series of keynote addresses and panel discussions designed to generate actionable insights for the future of Nigeria’s energy sector.
