The Minister of Communications Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani has emphasised that the IPv6 Summit is crucial for driving Nigeria’s digital transformation and unlocking new growth opportunities. He made this assertion during his keynote address at the summit organised by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in partnership with Huawei, the IPv6 Forum and the IPv6 Council Nigeria. The event, themed “Bringing Net 5.5G Into Reality: Inspiring New Growth,” was held in Abuja.

Tijani noted that the summit represents a significant milestone in advancing Nigeria’s digital technology landscape, particularly in the transition to IPv6 to meet future internet demands.

During the summit, NITDA’s director-general, Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi, highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to accelerating diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing and innovation. This focus aims to deepen growth and innovation, unlocking the potential of Nigeria’s digital economy while raising awareness about IPv6.

The summit also seeks to foster collaboration among stakeholders in Nigeria and create an actionable roadmap to promote the adoption of IPv6 across the country.
